Wedding at Fallingwater, Part 1

Before I get into the details of this super lovely wedding, I have to send you over to the WedCandy blog where I'm excited to be featured today! They posted some of their favorites from JoEllen and Kevin's travel-themed wedding. Thanks to them for the great feature!

Speaking of travel...let's dive right into this wedding I have to share today. Occasionally, I'm lucky enough to be selected by brides and grooms to shoot a wedding beyond the Middle Tennessee region. Don't get me wrong: I love to shoot here, but it's always so much fun to get to combine my love of travel with my job. For this wedding, Joshy and I packed our bags and caught a flight to Pittsburgh. The wedding itself was at the Fallingwater Barn, part of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright Fallingwater foundation. The house and barn itself are located in Mill Run, PA which is in the middle of nowhere. It's so far out there, I don't know where the locals buy their milk and bread. We flew in a day early so we'd have plenty of time to get out there and to our hotel, and we even had a chance to stop by the house to take a look prior to the wedding. We also allowed for an extra day in Pittsburgh after the wedding, since we knew it would be our last chance to travel for a while. (One of these days I'll post a Toy camera blog with our pics from the last month or two...)

The wedding itself was rather magical. Brenda and Kurt selected one of my favorite color schemes with their gray and yellow, and their ceremony in the woods was gorgeous and intimate. We did most of their portraits prior to the ceremony, but they set aside time afterwards for us to head over to the Fallingwater House for a few more....wow, am I a lucky girl! Brenda and Kurt were stunning, the location was to die for, and to top it off, I had a blast and got to shoot tons of film.

Here is part 1 of this too pretty for words wedding; part two (including the images from the famous house) will be posted later this weekend.
