Nashville Wedding Photographer - Carnton Bridal Portrait Session

One of the most time-honored wedding traditions here below the Mason Dixon line is that of the southern bridal portrait. It originated in Europe and eventually migrated to the genteel South. They’re still popular today, even with modern brides, and remain a rite of passage … but they have evolved. Once, photographers shot stoic, plain bridal portraits in studios against bland backgrounds. Today, brides prefer natural portraits shot in a more personalized setting. Alexa’s bridal portraits at Carnton in Franklin are the perfect example of a fresh, modern take on this southern ritual. I mean, what a better location for a southern tradition than a Civil War era plantation. Alexa’s cream dress and perfect peach complexion really popped against the bright green door of the plantation, grounds greenways, and flower gardens. The bride’s mother and sister helped out with the shoot – stretching and shading Alexa to help us get the light just right. I’m especially fond of the pictures we captured under the grape vine arch.
