As a professional engagement and wedding photographer, I wouldn’t say I’m immune to the emotions of the big day … just well versed. It’s rare that a moment catches me by surprise. But that’s exactly what happened at the recent brunch wedding of Chris and Megan.
During the first dance, as they canoodled … her cheek leaning into him as he grinned from ear-to-ear … I got all emotional. Before I realize it, there were tears in the corners of my eye … fogging up my Hasselbald lens and forcing me to sneak a tissue.
I’d shot a wedding the night before in Kentucky and drove straight back to Franklin for the early Sunday morning brunch wedding at CJ’s Off the Square. I assumed I was just flat out exhausted. Turns out, I was emotional because I was six weeks pregnant with precious Baby Oliver who will be here just any day now. I just didn’t know it yet.
Sunday brunch weddings aren’t all that common. I don’t think I’ve shot more than a couple but I love them because they’re usually small, intimate affairs filled with mimosas, gorgeous morning light, and lots of laughs. This one will always stand out to me personally because of the way Chris and Megan’s story intertwined so interestingly with my own.
